Over the weekend of Sept. 23rd & 24th, 13 EHS students competed in a worldwide cyber CTF (Capture the Flag) event hosted by Wichita State University, aptly titled "CaptureTheWu." The event tested competitors' skills in a wide variety of cybersecurity-related topics like brute-force scripting, cryptography, OSINT (open-source intelligence), digital forensics, and steganography (messages or files hidden in images), among many other topics. Students from 16 different high schools and colleges participated in the inaugural, virtual event.

The final team rankings were:

3rd place - "Ctrl Alt Defeat"
Sophie Clarke, Brighton Hilyard, Brett Blasi & Noah Jackson

5th place - "The Call Center"
Abby Ringer, Miles Blue, Jason Choi, Kyle Hamor & Aiden Tindall

8th place - "Extended Warranty Department"

A well-earned congratulations to all students involved and a huge thanks goes to Wichita State University Hub for Cybersecurity for hosting such a great event supporting secondary and post-secondary cybersecurity education across the globe!
