D. Archer Class

“Getting to help students of all ability levels excel, not just in the classroom, but in life, is what makes this job so rewarding,” shared Dillon Archer, a teacher at Eisenhower High School (EHS). Mr. Archer is a first-year instructor at EHS, and his passion helps drive him to serve students every day, both inside the classroom and out of it.

One of the exercises that helps provide life skills for the students in Archer’s classes is assisting with the printer maintenance. During these exercises, the students check paper trays and whether the ink and toner levels are adequate. This helps keep the printers running, and also provides a different style of learning experience for the students.

By providing experience outside of the classroom, students are building independence and skills that will serve them in their future careers and in life overall. Resources such as the tracking sheet of roles and responsibilities on their team, identification badges, and photo-labeled cards that help track which printer needs what are all part of what keeps Archer’s class a well-oiled machine.

It is through the efforts of both teachers and support staff that ALL EHS students are able to thrive and prepare for life after high school. Supporting the social and emotional well-being of students, while instilling life skills, is just one of the pillars that makes this program so enriching. By providing students with learning opportunities beyond the “traditional” school day, college and career readiness becomes a reality. Through the efforts of educators like Mr. Archer, who come prepared every day ready to instill knowledge and provide experiential learning to his students, our students are able to thrive.
