Congratulations to Anna Peery, Karaline Scott, and Lillian Montez on their accomplishments in the annual Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Challenge! These Goddard High School (GHS) students were tasked with determining a problem facing their community and were asked to find a solution using science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM).

Kansas wildlife and crops depend on the pollination of mason bees, but mason bees face many challenges regarding habitat security. Using completely recycled materials, Anna, Karaline, and Lillian constructed a “Bee Bungalow” where mason bees could safely increase their population. The Bungalow resides in the GHS Outdoor Wildlife Learning Site (OWLS) with hopes of providing further educational opportunities for future generations of GHS students.

With the help of Project Lead the Way teacher, Dr. Tim Pinkerton, these young ladies submitted their project to the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow competition and were selected as one of five state finalists! This accomplishment awards a $2,500 Samsung technology prize package for the GHS engineering program to further inspire future engineers.
