USD 265 Transportation

Goddard Public Schools Families,

I am honored and excited to introduce myself as the new Transportation Director for Goddard Public Schools. My name is Sean Hollas, and I am thrilled to be taking on this new role. Having been a part of the Goddard school district and community for 27 years as both a teacher and an administrator, I am deeply committed to the success of our students.

Ensuring the safety and well-being of our students during their daily bus rides is my top priority. I am committed to maintaining the highest standards of service and communication to ensure a safe, reliable, and efficient transportation system for all students. My team and I will be working diligently to make sure that every bus ride is a positive experience.

We will have the bus routes ready in Skyward by August 5th. In order to help us serve you better, please log into Skyward Family Access and fill out the transportation change request form IF you have transportation changes from last year. You DO NOT need to fill out this form if you are a returning family with no transportation changes from last year. You DO need to fill out the form if you fit one of the following categories: you’re new to Goddard Public Schools, your family changed residential addresses over the summer, your daycare/alternate pick-up or drop-off location changed since last school year, OR you don’t need USD 265 transportation. Your help in this matter allows us to plan and create accurate routes, and pick-up/drop-off times for our drivers and families.

Below are the answers to some frequently asked questions you may find helpful:

  • Transportation Boundaries: For students eligible for transportation (in-district AND over 2.5 miles away from school), we provide transportation within the child's specific school boundary only. In other words, if you live in the Explorer attendance area, we cannot transport your child to a daycare provider in the Oak Street attendance area. Bus routes are specific to each school. School boundaries can be viewed on the USD 265 website here: https://www.goddardusd.com/o/gps/page/school-boundaries

  • Pick-Up and Drop-Off Locations: Transportation is provided to eligible students to one, single pick-up and drop-off location. This doesn’t necessarily have to be the primary residence of the student, and is oftentimes a daycare facility. However the pick-up location cannot be different from the drop-off location. Families are allowed to list one address for transportation.

  • Bus Ride Restrictions: Children cannot ride buses home with friends for sleepovers, play dates, etc.

  • Communication: Please contact your child's school and the transportation office if you have changes in transportation, move, or have any questions.

You can also find answers to many more questions, along with information on our boundaries, bus rules, and handbooks by visiting our transportation page on the district's website. A PDF of this welcome letter can be found on the district website here: https://5il.co/2ra11.

Thank
you, and I look forward to this school year.

Educationally,

Sean Hollas
