Effective August 21st, 2024, 5th and 6th grade families picking up students at Discovery Intermediate should follow this traffic plan to alleviate traffic congestion. This addresses both inbound and outbound traffic for both 5th and 6th grade pick-up after school.

5th Grade Families: Enter from the North and utilize South Street to the North side Discovery parking lot. You can use Kellogg (US 54) to access Main Street in Goddard, and proceed South on Main until you reach South Street (the side street directly adjacent to the North side of the District Administrative Building). Take a right turn and follow South Street West to the second (far western) entrance to the side parking lot of Discovery, then as you enter the parking lot, form two student pick-up lines (side-by-side) where the trash dumpsters are located on the North side of the school. (Buses will be parked just in front, forming the line.) Once you pick up your student, please proceed counter-clockwise through the parking lot and exit using the eastern exit of that parking lot, back out onto South Street When you've reached Main Street, take a left turn on Main Street to drive NORTHBOUND towards Kellogg (US 54) and utilize Kellogg to flow East or West.

6th Grade Families: Please enter from the south and utilize the main/front Discovery parking lot, directly adjacent to the East main entrance of the school. From Pawnee (23rd Street South), drive North on Main Street in Goddard, and proceed to the East Discovery parking lot. When you pull in, please proceed counter-clockwise in the parking lot to the front of the building to pick up your student, then continue counter-clockwise to exit the parking lot. Take a right turn on Main Street when exiting the Discovery parking lot to drive SOUTHBOUND, and continue south using Pawnee (23rd St. S.) to flow East or West.

Please keep an eye out for USD 265 staff (police officers and/or Discovery staff) directing traffic as we all get used to this flow of traffic. Parents picking up students should begin lining up no earlier than 2:30 p.m., and pick-up begins promptly at 3:01 p.m. each day. Please see the map below for a visual layout of expected pick-up routes:
