Students engaging in groups with guide walking around.
Last month, Mr. Brewer and Mr. Marchant took the Student Leadership Committee and a group from the Jr. Class on a trip to the Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum.

During the trip, they toured the Museum and President Eisenhower's boyhood home, and the students participated in an activity called Project Solarium. In Project Solarium, the students were broken into three groups, given primary source documents, and were then tasked with developing strategies for confronting the expansion of Soviet influence during the 1950s. The groups then presented their strategies to the President, defended their conclusions, and debated the merits of their strategies with the other groups. Then a group representing the president took all of the strategies presented and chose parts of each one to formulate a final policy.

It was a great trip that presented plenty of unique experiences and opportunities to practice and improve problem solving, teamwork, communication, and leadership skills. Thank you to the Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum and all the students that participated for such an amazing and worthwhile day!
