Lexi, Mr. Gee, and Mr. Entz
This month has seen a slew of graduations over here at Goddard Academy as the year comes to an end. Among them was Lexi Miller who took part in the Certified Nurse Assistant Program while she was still taking her high school classes! Because of this, she is ready and qualified to apply for work in nursing homes, with her heart set on working in the same one as her mom soon.

This program not only gave her a kick start to her future career, but also earned her a college credit. When asked what inspired her to take advantage of this opportunity, she mentioned that she loves helping and caring about people and she’d always seen it on the enrollment forms at GHS, so one day she talked to our school counselor, Mr. Entz. He got the ball rolling with our Registrar, Tami, and the team at WSU Tech. Next thing she knew, Lexi was signed up!

The CNA program lasts for one semester. It was totally free and took place Mondays - Thursdays during her 3rd and 4th block. On those days, Lexi would find herself surrounded by hospital beds with mannequins on them. There, she learned and practiced various skills important to being a CNA, including CPR training, checking vital signs with the mannequins, and working in teams.

We are so proud of Lexi and we are lucky to have such amazing people in our students with goals and achievements of all kinds. If you are in high school and have a caring and kind heart, this program might be a great idea for you too!
