Goddard students launched the new school year with enthusiasm, focus, and a sense of Lion Pride. This past August, students met within their PRIDE classes on a special day called Lion Launch to reconnect, to set academic & personal goals, and to identify steps to make their year a success. Each grade level completed separate tasks that zeroed-in on teamwork, grit, and leadership.
A traditional favorite of Lion Launch Day was the PRIDE Class Dodgeball Tourney, where students rally their classmates within individual PRIDE classes and battle it out for Dodgeball Class Champion within a grade level. To set the stage, each class created a banner to represent them, and then they identified which students wanted to play Dodgeball and which students wanted to cheer. The overall occasion provided a lot of fun, team-building skills, and a practice of respect & sportsmanship.
The other important part of this day was preparing and reminding students how to use the diverse logins, passwords, and tech savvy techniques with email, Google Drive, Xerox machines, and library access. By reviewing these technical steps, it allowed students to clean out old files and refresh memories of where to find documents or educational platforms to make this new school year a success!
By having students recognize shared commonalities and knowing how to utilize their resources, the whole student community not only works together well but strives for excellence.
