Goddard High School had 17 students participate in Business Professionals of America State Leadership Conference this weekend. The following qualified for the National Leadership Conference in Chicago on May 10-14.
Senior Remington Derksen is a THREE TIME NATIONAL QUALIFIER! He qualified for Nationals this year by placing in Web Design. And he did the entire competition without a reference book! However, he will NOT be headed to Nationals with us this year because the first day of National competition also happens to be GHS Graduation Day.
Junior Talyn Rhoten is a TWO TIME NATIONAL QUALIFIER! He qualified for Nationals this year by placing in C++, He was only going to take the Java test, but his mother talked him into taking C++ again. I am so glad she did!
Junior James Alexander qualified in Fundamentals of Desktop Publishing, placing 3rd in a field of almost 40 competitors. He was a late recruit to BPA, but we are happy to have him.
Freshman Dean Northcut qualified in an open test called Information Technology Concepts. He placed above many older, more experienced programming and technical students. Dean also placed in the top 10 in Python Programming.
and
Junior Adam Vincent has qualified to go and work with the BPA National Office as a conference intern. As a third year student and a club officer, Adam will work part of the convention. We have never taken part in the Intern Program before, so I am excited to see how it goes.
Also placing were:
Pio Hernandez & Wilson Hagerman with a fifth place finish in the Global Marketing Team Event. Unfortunately, only three teams are allowed to go to Nationals from each state.
