ASmith_2025

It is with great pleasure that we are introducing the second member of the Goddard Virtual School Class of 2025, Miss Allie Smith.  Joining GVS in the fall of 2024, Smith was driven to completed all of her high school graduation requirements early which she accomplished on December 16.

According to Smith the best parts of virtual schooling included working on her own schedule while being working 20+ hours a week as well as the flexibility virtual schooling allows for the completion of assignments and project as time permits.  The most impactful course Smith utilized this semester was the Individual Plan of Study, a course created in connection to KSDE’s mandate.  Through completing IPS activities including a resume and a letter of recommendation, Smith has been able to utilize both documents in her college applications.

At this time Smith has not finalized her career goals.  However, she knows that she wants to help children grow and develop.  Potential paths to this include pursuing careers as a teacher, speech pathologist, or principal.

In an effort to save money for college, Smith plans to continue working at Scooters while picking up an additional job.  Having been accepted to Mississippi State University and Oklahoma State University, Smith plans to enroll in the Fall of 2025 to complete her general education requirements while finalizing her career path.

Congratulations, Allie, and best wishes as you begin the next chapter of your life.
